We can understand DNS as a phone book of a website. It is converted to a more suitable form called IP for the internet protocol. We humans are not good to remember a lot of numbers but we can remember a phrase easily. In the computer network, all the computer are connected through a protocol called TCP/IP. In this mechanism computer can transmit their information to a particular location. To identify exact location we use IP addressing. When you type in a web address, e.g., http://www.nationkart.com, your Internet Service Provider views the DNS associated with the domain name, translates it into a machine-friendly IP address and directs your Internet connection to the correct website.
