Microsoft Outlook contains different types of files including contacts, tasks, notes, email messages, journals, etc. All these files are stored in PST file format. PST file format includes ANSI PST and Unicode PST file formats. 2 GB is the size limit for the file in PST format and 20 GB is the size limit for the file in PST format which has now been extended to 50 GB in MS Outlook 2010. PST file may get corrupted if its size limit is exceeded and thus, you will lose all your important data items including email messages. You can split a large PST file into small PST files by some features of Microsoft Outlook: Import and Export, Archive and Move to Folder. “Move to Folder” doesn’t perform PST split function but it helps to move files from one PST folder to another by creating a new PST.
