You can try these steps:

Quit all open apps that may try to use the FaceTime camera
Open Terminal and enter the following commands, pressing return after each one:
sudo killall VDCAssistant
sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant
Enter the administrator password when requested
Relaunch the app that was attempting to use the camera

I also had this issue with me camera. It was pop up message with text there is no connected camera. I rebooted my Mac and camera started to work. Also there is another method with command "sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant && sudo killall VSCAssistant".

If you're trying to open it with an app and can't do so, you might have it restricted in the Privacy settings of your Mac. Is it working for your photobooth?
